Alistair Guy’s Strong Women & English Rogues Exhibition

Alistair Guy's Strong Women & English Rogues Exhibition

“Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes” – Jim Carey

Photographer, Alistair Guy showcased his previously popular ‘Strong Women’ exhibition with his more recent ‘English Rogues’ exhibition as guests enjoyed cocktails and canapés overlooking the meandering River Thames in Richmond, London.

Photographed back in 2016, Guy’s ‘Strong Women’ exhibition celebrates women of all ages and backgrounds and includes subjects from the world of fashion, art, film and music. Shot on film using natural light and mostly in the homes of the subjects the exhibition captured Daphne Selfe, the world’s oldest supermodel, Savannah Miller, a British-American fashion designer and Tilly Wood, actress, model and producer.

If the ‘Strong Women’ exhibition is billed by Guy as “a celebration of femininity” then his more recent collection, ‘English Rogues’ provided a stark contrast in its celebration of the male roguish nature.

The ‘English Rogues’ subjects ranged from actors and rockstars. Actor Gary Kemp, model and musician Todd Dorigo, Fantastic Beasts star Deano Bugatti and regular British and Swedish models Richard Biedul and Robert Konjic respectively.

Of the exhibition itself, Guy spoke about “wanting to create something that unified people” and thus brought his two exhibitions together “to celebrate both male and female”. The honesty in each of the exhibitions is laid bare in Guy’s photographic approach. Black and white images set against a minimalist backdrop ensures the focus remains solely on his subjects and the rawness of their nature.

The exhibition itself was hosted in the luscious surroundings of the Bingham Riverhouse Members’ Club on the banks of the River Thames. A five minute walk from Richmond Bridge in West London, the tranquil waterside spot provides the perfect setting for a quick drink or a relaxing meal as a home away from home for people to get together, work, evolve and play in.
