Chotto Matte Unveils New London Flagship Restaurant

Chotto Matte Soho - Ground Floor Lounge

“Change is hardest at the beginning, messiest in the middle and best at the end.” ― Robin S. Sharma

The wait is over for the unveiling of Chotto Matte’s new UK flagship restaurant in London’s Soho area. Temporarily closed this summer for a restyle, the Nikkei restaurant is ready to serve up its next chapter since its initial launch back in 2013.

Nikkei, a unique blend of Japanese and Peruvian culinary traditions, uses a lively combination of ingredients and techniques to transform those tastebuds and provide a dining experience like no other. Chotto Matte’s innovative menu captures the culinary craftsmanship of some of the Nikkei staples. From Ceviche, Tiradito, Anticucho BBQ, Sushi, Sashimi and Tempura, all ingredients are organic and sustainably sourced for your tasting pleasure.

Chotto Matte Soho reopened on 9th September 2022, revealing a sleek and contemporary new look. Known for its eclectic environment within the restauranteur scene, the new flagship will provide creative influence through art and diversity.

So what can one expect from the latest restyle?

The reimagined restaurant debuts a new stylish lounge bar for those pre-supper drinks, even more important should you wish to flirt with Chotto Matte’s reworked cocktail menu. Other changes incorporate a new colour way of green, purple and orange hues across the chairs, tables, floors and ceiling.

For those thinking that too much change can be a bad thing, fret not. Chotto Matte’s iconic features can still be found amongst the tropical foliage. From Japanese lava stone, shou sugi ban wood, wall art inspired by Tokyo’s contemporary urban culture, the upstairs open kitchen and even the theatrics from the sushi counter, all of which continue to give Chotto Matte its familiarity that diners have come to love over the past 10 years.

As for the food…

Menu highlights include the Yellowtail “Nikkei Sashimi” with jalapeño, coriander and yuzu truffle soy, Wagyu Sirloin with Truffle Teriyaki sauce and Black Cod Aji Miso with Chilli miso marinade, yuzu, and chives.

We also understand further culinary creations are in development, led by Global Executive Chef, Jordan Sclare including the introduction of a new bottomless Nikkei Brunch for Saturday goers…as if we need more excuses to check out the new restaurant.

Address: Chotto Matte Soho, 11, 13 Frith Street, London W1D 4RB
