The Luxury Weekend Guide to Partying in Ibiza

Ibiza Mega Clubs

It’s been two years since the White Isle has been open to visitors, and the famously hedonistic destination is pulsing with excitement as the first proper party season gets underway. It’s fair to say that the original party island is back with a bang.

Ibiza has changed dramatically since the 1990s, and you can still find trance, house and techno music at its clubbing institutions, but there’s also a change of tempo on the island, with a wave of new openings and more intimate and authentic experiences. In short, there’s something for everyone and an opportunity to see some of the real Ibiza, too.

If you’re planning a long overdue revisit, here are the latest and greatest things to see and do on the island.

Where to stay in Ibiza

Ibiza is full of glamorous luxury hotels but these are our favourite three.

six senses ibiza hotel

Six Senses Ibiza

Six Senses Ibiza

For an ultra luxe stay check in at Six Senses Ibiza, which opened last summer on the much-in-demand north side of the island, overlooking the quiet Xarraca Bay. The hotel is very much plugged into the hippier side of the island, and in November will be hosting the Alma Festival – a three-day festival of events, workshops, live music, artistic performances and culinary experiences focused on spirituality, wellness and celebration.

Corso Hotel & Spa

When it comes to location, it’s hard to beat Ibiza Corso Hotel & Spa – which is perched right in front of Marina Botafoch, one of the most elite marinas in the world, is a short taxi ride to Ibiza old town and a stone’s throw from Pacha nightclub.

All guest rooms have views of the sea, there’s an outdoor pool with live DJs and to-your-lounger drinks service, plus a bar & lounge for a relaxed lunch. Guests get free access to the hotel spa, which has a sauna, hammam, a pure oxygen suite, swimming pool and outdoor terrace for sunbathing, plus you get a discount at STK Ibiza, which is just next door, though there is also an on-site restaurant.

Nobu Hotel Talamanca

Meanwhile, fans of pared back style will love Nobu Hotel Talamanca, an architect’s dream of angular white lines and rattan furniture, where you can flit between its two rectangular hotels with gauzy cabanas and on-site boutique, before enjoying yoga or DJ classes. Don’t forget to book into the hotel’s eponymous restaurant for its famous miso-marinated black cod.

What to do in Ibiza

Ibiza is well-known and well-loved for its plethora of clubs for partygoers. With a variety of beach clubs in addition to the Ibiza mega clubs, there is something for everyone. We wrap up the best club options, and what to do when you just need some peace and quiet.

Nikki beach Club Ibiza

Nikki Beach Club Ibiza

Beach Clubs

The party season is busier than ever, particularly at classic Ibiza party hotels like the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza – where guests can book into open air parties or simply opt to while away a lazy afternoon at the beach club.

Get to Hard Rock early to get a beach cabana all to yourself, from which you can nibble sushi and sip sauvignon blanc underneath a chic slatted roof, getting up only to drink or dance woozily under the sun.

One of the first beach club concepts in Ibiza was Nikki Beach Club, in Santa Eulalia on the east coast, and it remains a firm favourite among the Instagram crowd. For something on the quieter side head to the nearby, secluded and very beautiful, S’Argamassa Beach. Or go even more upbeat at O Beach Club in San Antonio, a beach resort that hosts poolside day parties with live DJs and scintillating aerial performances.

Visit the Mega Clubs

Most of the mega clubs – Pacha, Ushuaïa and Amnesia – have reopened after two years of being put out to pasture, with the likes of Calvin Harris, David Guetta and Martin Garrix having headlined shows this summer.

Plan ahead by booking tickets for these mega clubs, which still provide some of the most memorable night’s out in Ibiza, particularly for Ushuaïa, which has already had record breaking attendance for its openers at the end of April, as did Hï Ibiza, named #1 Club In The World 2022 by DJ Mag.

Don’t miss the island’s hottest new venue

The island’s hottest new venue is The Beach Caves, housed in the Six Senses Ibiza on the north coast of the island. This secret warren of spaces incorporates a beautifully designed indoor-outdoor restaurant and terrace, two bars – one a speakeasy-style cocktail cavern and another next to a private dining room, and a nightlife venue, Xarraca Room, which hosts DJs like Benji B and Cincity.

Enjoy the sunset views over the Mediterranean Sea and if you fancy staying the night, book into one of its signature suites under the rocks, one of which comes with its very own recording studio.

Where to eat in Ibiza

The food offering on Ibiza is now first class, with gastronomes well catered for with everything from high end dining to wellness-centred brunches.

STK Ibiza

STK Ibiza

STK Ibiza

For fun and frolics combined with delectable steak, book a booth at STK Ibiza. Here, diners are treated to a night packed full of entertainment, as live performances take place in and around the tables, and guests are encouraged to get up and dance. Everyone can have a good time here; on our visit there were couples of all ages, large groups of friends and even families, with parents and teenage children able to enjoy a uniquely Ibizan experience together.

The food is delectable – steaks are of course the highlight, with specials like wagyu and tomahawk on the menu, but there dishes to suit every taste, from seafood platters and fresh ceviche to vegan burgers and lamb chops.

Sabina Estates

At Sabina Estates, an eco-conscious Balearic hideout on the island’s south-west coast, is an outpost of La Paloma, Ibiza’s favourite restaurant, where you can enjoy long, languorous lunches of colourful salads, herb-flecked mezze and pizzas from a wood-fired oven. The original, in the village of San Lorenzo in the middle of the island, is still very much worth a visit too.

El Silencio

At the beach restaurant El Silencio is a new concept by three-Michelin starred chef Mauro Colagreco. Hailing from Argentina, Colagreco has designed a menu based around his passion for flame cooking, which can be enjoyed with cocktails by French-Irish master mixologist Remy Savage.

Casa Jondal

The other new addition to Ibiza’s thriving beach restaurant scene is Casa Jondal, in the gorgeous bay of Cala Jondal. A dream come true for seafood lovers, it’s headed up by world renowned chef Rafael Zafra, previously of El Bulli, who’s created a stunning Mediterranean-inspired menu.

Tierra Iris

For balancing hedonism with something more healthy, grab lunch at Tierra Iris, a nature based community offering wellness-conscious eating.

Final Thoughts

Ibiza may have become popular in the 90s, but it’s certainly back with a bang and still has plenty to offer partygoers. This is one island with a genuine legacy to beat year-after-year, and there really is something for everyone no matter what sort of music or party you’re searching for.

As well as the clubs, parties, and beautiful meals, Ibiza is also full of history and can provide a calm and serene location for a wander between the craziness. It’s always worth climbing the winding lanes of Dalt Vila – Ibiza’s pretty Unesco-listed old town – for a gentle stroll, or dinner or drinks, as you watch the sun dip into the sea before heading on to the next party.
