Gin Infused With Native South African Botanicals

inverroche gin

“According to chemists, gin IS a solution” – Anon

Inverroche – a coming together of the Scottish word meaning ‘a confluence of water’ (Inver) and the French word meaning rock or stone (Roche).

Inverroche is a product from South Africa. With water and stone converging in the southern Cape coastal village of Still Bay, at the tip of the African continent, the area has the perfect conditions necessary to make Inverroche gin.

Gin Infused With Native South African Botanicals

Founded in 2011, Inverroche Gin is a South African gin available in 30 countries on 4 continents and is a global gin brand with a unique differentiator – ‘Fynbos’. Ever heard of it? Thought not…

From the Western Cape, ‘Fynbos’ is a rare indigenous flora which is unique to the area. Long been utilised by the indigenous people for medicinal and culinary purposes, Inverroche has successfully incorporated its unique qualities into its gin production. With the Inverroche distillery located in the southern Cape coastal village of Still Bay, all of the brand’s gins are infused with the bouquet of native fynbos botanicals from the mountainous rocky terrain of the Cape Floral Kingdom of South Africa.

As for the taste, you won’t be surprised to hear that the brand’s gin range has a delicate floral hint throughout most of its variants and is best enjoyed with tonic on ice and a twist of lime or lemon.

The brand has 5 products to cater for all tastes

Classic Gin

A crisp and dry gin with upfront green, grassy juniper notes which blend seamlessly with a bouquet of soft flowers on the nose.

Amber Gin

A rich and aromatic flavour, this amber coloured gin has fresh citrus, with slight juniper, sweet toffee apples and delicate floral notes, intertwined to deliver a dry, woody finish.

Verdant Gin

Floral and soft with a translucent golden-green hue, the Verdant Gin has a delicate aroma reminiscent of elderflower and chamomile. With a touch of spice, subtle juniper, waxy lemon rind and alluring liquorice on the palate.

Coco Capensis

Latin for the region known as the Cape, this is an elegant, smooth and well-balanced dry gin with a nuanced floral and fruit profile.

Limestone Rum

The observant of you will realise this is not a gin, but a rum. The Inverroche Limestone Rum is a 10-year old full bodied sipping rum. A limited release, this rum is a smooth, mature and balanced complex wood spice on the nose with toasted bourbon oak, earthy, rich dark chocolate and soft vanilla.

Limited-Edition Living Gift Set

For the Verdant Gin fans among you, Inverroche has launched a limited-edition living gift set containing their Verdant gin and wildflower seed bombs. In time for Mother’s Day (Sunday 27th March) this limited-edition gift set is a thoughtful gift for both Mothers and the bees of the UK. Purposefully attracting bees and other native pollinators, the wildflower seed bombs aim to help protect the UK’s biodiversity, by creating wildflower habitats for bees around the country.

The gift set also comes with a cocktail recipe developed by North London based cocktail bar, Heads + Tails. Playfully named “You’re Mint” the cocktail comprises lemon, lime and honey with Inverroche gin, a refreshing cocktail to brighten any Mother’s Day celebrations. So, whilst the gin might not last that long, the hope is the wildflowers bloom for seasons to come.

The limited-edition gift set is priced at £39.95 and is available to purchase at Spirits Kiosk.
