The Peninsula London Celebrates Strawberry Season with Afternoon Tea

As British strawberry season reaches its annual peak, The Peninsula London is marking the occasion with a new seasonal afternoon tea experience that places one of summer’s most beloved fruits firmly in the spotlight.

Launching on 29 June and available through the summer until 6 September 2025, the hotel’s Strawberry Afternoon Tea offers a refined celebration of the British summer harvest, combining classic afternoon tea traditions with imaginative pastry creations inspired by the season’s most iconic ingredient.

Served daily between 1pm and 6.30pm, guests can enjoy the experience within The Lobby, the hotel’s elegant ground-floor dining space, where soaring ceilings, natural light and live music create a sophisticated backdrop for one of London’s most enduring culinary rituals. Alternatively, guests can choose to take afternoon tea at Soleil by Claude, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant and terrace on the eighth floor, where sweeping views across Hyde Park provide an especially memorable setting during the warmer months.

Priced from £85 per person, the experience begins with a carefully curated selection of fine teas, accompanied by an assortment of delicate finger sandwiches and freshly baked scones served with traditional clotted cream, lemon curd and strawberry preserve. The sweet course, however, is where the seasonal theme truly comes to life.

Created by The Peninsula London’s pastry team, the collection showcases British strawberries in a variety of inventive forms. Highlights include a strawberry and Timur pepper mousse, where the fruit’s natural sweetness is balanced by subtle citrus and floral notes; a strawberry choux filled with vibrant strawberry compote; a strawberry jasmine tart paired with white chocolate crunch; and a strawberry and almond mousse layered alongside rich millionaire shortbread. Each pastry has been designed to celebrate the versatility of the fruit while maintaining the precision and artistry expected from one of London’s most luxurious hotels.

For those looking to elevate the experience further, a selection of premium drinks is available, including glasses of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut and Blason Rosé Champagne. Guests seeking a non-alcoholic alternative can opt for Saicho sparkling tea, whose delicate flavours complement the afternoon tea menu while offering a refreshing alternative to traditional sparkling wines.

The seasonal offering arrives at a time when afternoon tea continues to evolve across London’s luxury hotel scene, with many properties introducing limited-edition menus inspired by seasonal produce, cultural events and artistic collaborations. At The Peninsula London, however, the focus remains firmly on quality ingredients and understated elegance, allowing British strawberries to take centre stage during their brief but highly anticipated season.

Whether enjoyed beneath the grandeur of The Lobby or against the rooftop views of Hyde Park at Soleil by Claude, The Strawberry Afternoon Tea offers an indulgent way to celebrate one of summer’s simplest pleasures.
